Newport Beach's McCarthy Building Cos., one of the nation’s largest domestic general contractors, has received the 2011 Corporate University Xchange (CorpU) Award for Excellence and Innovation, due to its recently revamped McCarthy Build U employee-training program.
The award was presented at the 2011 Global Leadership Congress, a three-day event co-sponsored by Corporate University Xchange and the University of Pennsylvania. A first-time applicant, McCarthy was honored with a Best Practice award in the Launching Category.
The CorpU Award program recognizes top employee-development efforts that lead to measurable improvements in business and individual worker performance.
“Operating in today’s business world is more complicated than ever,” said Mike Bolen, McCarthy chairman and CEO. “Through McCarthy Build U, we are able to provide our employee-owners with a comprehensive training and development program designed to result in both short- and long-term success. To be included among this year’s CorpU Xchange Award winners is truly an honor.”
Earlier this year, McCarthy Building was named to Training magazine’s annual Training Top 125 list, which also honors employer-sponsored training-development programs.
“The winning programs show how important learning excellence is enabling companies to execute their business strategy,” said Peter McAteer, CEO of CorpU. “We congratulate them.”
