![]() MemorialCare Health System, headquartered in Tustin, and the affiliated MemorialCare Medical Foundation comprises a number of healthcare offices and provider groups in Southern California. The evaluations are part of the California Association for Physician Groups’ (CAPG) Standards of Excellence program, possibly the first comprehensive evaluation program for medical groups in the nation. "In a time when healthcare is under the microscope, we're extremely gratified to have our efforts on behalf of our patients and physicians recognized by this highly respected organization," said Dr. Mark Schafer, MemorialCare Medical Foundation’s chief medical officer. "Our physicians and staff work tirelessly to ensure our patients continually receive the highest levels of patient care available — from advanced preventive measures, comprehensive screenings and state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures and technologies to expert treatment and management of medical conditions." The elite ratings are the most recent recognition for physician groups within the MemorialCare Medical Foundation network, a nonprofit physicians’ organization that contracts with medical groups in Los Angeles and Orange counties. The system represents more than 300 primary care physicians and 1,400 contracted specialists with 1,225 employees, serving more than 160,000 managed care patients. Among other recognitions, the Integrated Healthcare Association has consistently rated the MemorialCare Medical Foundation as one of the state’s top physician groups.
