Men’s Olympic Volleyball team, White House celebs

The Anaheim White House served as the U.S.A. Men’s Volleyball Team’s culinary teammates. Now the gold-medal winners have returned to the White House to recount their Beijing experience.

Each day for the past three years, Anaheim White House Executive Chef Eddie Meza has prepared lunch for the U.S.A. Men’s Volleyball team. The goal: helping the team to win the Olympic Gold medal. Yesterday, the team returned home to the popular restaurant for a celebratory dinner hosted by owner Bruno Serato, and to share their gold medal experience with their extended team, the staff at the White House.

The relationship began when Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle introduced the team to Serato. The philanthropic Serato immediately offered his services as a team sponsor.  Through the past three years the volleyball team has assisted Serato with his local community projects, including assisting with Caterina's Club luncheons for the Boys & Girls' Club to the "Paint Your Heart Out" events at which they help fix up run down houses in the area.

Chef Meza’s performance-enhancing menu included items such as protein-rich wild salmon, rich in omega 3 fatty acids.  Pasta lunches were a team favorite and the carb-rich lunch assisted in muscle growth and cardiac wellness.  All meals, according to the restaurant, were served with a salad that included a range of fruits and vegetables, plenty of antioxidants, as well as lots of vitamins and fiber.
