![]() Statistics show that breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women; with 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with the disease in her lifetime. “The breast cancer statistics out there are startling and scary, but the good news is there is hope,” said Mark Mears, president and chief concept officer of Mimi’s Café. “When breast cancer is detected early, in the localized stage, the 5-year survival rate is 98.6 percent. That is why it is important to do our part and support the National Breast Cancer Foundation and their mission to inform women about breast cancer and early detection.” Mimi’s kicks off its “Power of Pink” campaign today; guests who wear pink to a Mimi’s Café restaurant today will receive a free Pumpkin Spiced Muffin with any purchase. The restaurant will offer further opportunities for people to support the cause throughout the month-long campaign. In Irvine, the restaurant will host a pink ribbon tying ceremony with Janelle Hail, founder and CEO the National Breast Cancer Foundation. "We are so proud to be working with Mimi’s Cafe in the month of October for Mimi’s Power of Pink campaign,” Hail said. "Their passion and efforts to empower women aligns with our mission to provide resources that save lives. Together, we are helping to fill a critical need: supporting women to take active responsibility for their health.” Mimi’s Café has also added two “Sparkling Pink” drinks to its menu, available until Oct. 31, with a portion of proceeds donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Guests may also donate $1 on the “Giving Tree” display in Mimi’s restaurants, where they receive a leaf to write on and hang on the display. These proceeds will also go toward the foundation. Donations are also welcomed online through Mimi’s digital “Giving Tree.” Related headlines Kia partners with women’s automotive site on breast cancer ASICS America adds star power to fight breast cancer King Size Bows premieres the Breast Cancer Awareness bow |
