Mimi’s Cafe, headquartered in Irvine, has launched a month of fundraising and an awareness campaign, Mimi’s for Miracles, to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The campaign was opened last Friday with a flight in the Irvine Great Park Balloon.
The Mimi’s campaign, which will continue throughout the month of July, will feature in-store fundraisers and donations opportunities for 45 local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The national nonprofit organization has provided more than $4.3 billion in donations since its start in 1983.
"Today is especially meaningful as we extend our partnership with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, allowing us to help more kids in 45 additional Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals around our restaurants across the country,” said Mimi’s President and Chief Concept Officer Mark Mears. “We can't imagine a more fitting backdrop than our home base in Southern California, with our partners at CHOC and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, to spark this inspirational campaign, 'Mimi's for Miracles – Lifting spirits one balloon at a time.'"
Donations to specific hospitals by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals are based on the donator’s zip code to ensure local support.
In-store donation opportunities at Mimi’s include the purchase of a “Miracle Balloon” paper icon to be displayed in the restaurant for $1 or a balloon lapel pin for $5 donations. Mimi’s will also provide up to $30 in coupons for participants.
"Mimi's Cafe represents excellent food, and our Miracle Balloon represents excellence in child-health services at our member hospitals,” said John Schneider, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals co-founder. "By hosting this campaign at their restaurants, Mimi's Cafe is exemplifying our original mission to save as many children's lives as possible, and doing so by raising funds locally."
To further promote the fundraising campaign in its local eateries, the restaurant is presenting “Mimi’s Muffins for Miracles Day” on Friday, July 6. Guests who dine at the restaurant and make at least a $1 donation will be treated to a complimentary Strawberry Shortcake muffin.
