The city of Mission Viejo is expected to receive more than $2 million in funding from Proposition 42 over the next two years for transportation projects.Roughly $932,000 will be distributed in 2009 and about $1 million is slated for disbursement in 2010 coming directly from the state. An additional $230,000 comes through the Orange County City Aid Program (CAP). Proposition 42 – the Transportation Congestion Improvement Act – calls for the allocation of roughly 5 percent of state sales tax on gasoline to go toward transportation projects.
