Highlights of the evening included special recognition for the 2008 Hall of Fame inductee, Steve Johnson of Metrostudy. Tony Cappelli of Stephen’s Hope received the President’s Award, and Angela DiGregorio-Carmen of D.R. Horton took home the Rookie Sales Associate of the Year title. Sommer Lira, a member of SMC/IE and membership chairwoman of the Women’s Council of the Inland Empire, served as Miss Laurels 2008.

Some of the night’s most anticipated awards were the Community of the Year honors. Brookfield Homes swept the category with wins for Portico (attached), Gatehouse (detached) and Edenglen (Masterplanned Community of the Year). The exclusive Builder of the Year honor went to MBK Homes. Laurel Awards 2008 named Matt Sauls of Pardee Homes as Marketing Director of the Year and Ken Hyland of Beazer Homes as Sales Manager of the Year. Innovative graphics, ads and other sales materials also received recognition. The Best Logo award went to Shea Homes and L&A Marketing and Advertising for Three-65. Pardee Homes and Allan Zukor Design won the Best Graphic Continuity nod.

John Laing Homes and The Roxburgh Agency won Best Brochure and Best Series of Print Ads for Summerly. The work of Standard Pacific Homes and Hayes Martin Associates received honors for the Best Ad. The Best Signage award was a tie between John Laing Homes and Temeka for Fusion 5, and Taylor Woodrow Homes and Temeka for Market Street.
