ProGEL is a sealant that is made up of human serum albumin and a
component of polyethylene glycol. When the two are mixed, they form a
strong, flexible coating.
"In addition to thoracic surgery,
ProGEL has potential applications in spinal, gynecological and general
surgery, as well as in adhesion prevention," says Renzi.
The
funding is among a number of recent developments for Neomend: The firm
also recently received FDA premarket approval for the use of ProGEL
Pleural Air Leak Sealant during thoracic surgery, according to Timothy
Mills, Ph.D., a partner at Sanderling.
"These two developments
perfectly position the company for multiple product launches tied to
this unique biomaterial," he finishes. <<< PREVIOUS PAGE
