Newport Beach’s Conexant announces Co-Presidents for continuing company

Christian Scherp and Sailesh Chittipeddi to take on the job

Conexant Systems, Inc.  announced today that Christian Scherp and Sailesh Chittipeddi have been named co-presidents of the company.  The Newport Beach-based Company will continue after the pending sale of the Broadband Access business to     Ikanos Communications, Inc. is completed.  The appointments of Scherp and Chittipeddi are effective immediately.  Both men will report to Scott Mercer, Conexant chairman and chief executive officer.

“Christian and Sailesh are industry veterans who have demonstrated that they possess the vision, drive, and skill sets required to consistently deliver outstanding results,” says Mercer.  “Christian and Sailesh will share responsibilities and concentrate on their main areas of expertise.”

Scherp joined the company in 2005 as senior vice president of Worldwide Sales.  He was promoted in April 2008, and most recently served as the Conexant president.  Prior to joining the Conexant team, Scherp worked with    Infineon Technologies North America for eight years.  Mercer explains he “will have primary responsibility for worldwide sales, marketing, and program management.”

Scherp expressed a positive outlook on his new responsibility.  “I look forward to working closely with Scott and Sailesh.  Our continuing company will occupy leading positions in the imaging, audio, video and embedded-modern segments we address, and we expect to enhance those positions in the future,” says Scherp.
