O.C.'s unemployment rate, continued ...

For the year, employment fell by 3.6 percent – or 53,000 jobs.

The largest drop was reported in the trade, transportation and utilities sector, which lost 12,600 positions. Construction also reported a substantial decline, shedding 11,700 jobs in the period. Specialty trade contractors made up the majority – 75 percent – of those losses.

In total, 10 out of 11 industries saw declines over the year. The only one to remain unchanged was the mining and logging sector.

Statewide, the unemployment rate was 12.2 percent, down from a revised 12.3 percent. Nationwide, the number fell to 9.4 percent, which is a slight drop from October, according to the EDD.

Orange County Register Opinion Section - Creating U.S. jobs in perpetuity. Thought you might enjoy reading the December 17th issue of the Orange County Register Opinion that I wrote, following President Obama's speech last week on creating jobs in the USA. The references to "OUR CHOICE" refers to the 350 million in the USA, not just the, politicians, environmentalists, special interest groups, etc, but ALL of us that have bought into the concept of sending $600 billion worth of jobs every year to foreign countries that don't like the USA and don’t' care about the carbon footprint of the world. A link to the December 17th OCR article is attached for your easy reading. Feel free to forward this opinion to others that may have an interest in keeping jobs and technology in the USA rather than sending it off to foreign countries. http://www.ocregister.com/opinion/oil-224532-crude-choice.html
