O.C. billionaires make Forbes list

The Irvine Co.'s Donald Bren comes in at No. 45 in the ranking of the world's fortunes.

Forbes has released its list of the World's Billionaires, and a number of Orange County fortunes made the ranking.

Many of the local billionaires saw no change in their wealth, compared to Forbes 400 Richest Americans list, as well as its billionaire's ranking from 2009. But some saw upticks in their net worth – even through the downturn in the economy. Here's a breakdown of the numbers:

The Irvine Co.'s Donald Bren ranked highest among the local billionaires at No. 45. The real estate mogul is valued at $12 billion.
Forbes 400 Richest Americans (September 2009): unchanged
World's Billionaires (March 2009): unchanged

Next on the list is Foothill Ranch-based Oakley founder James Jannard, who came in at No. 316, with a net worth of $3 billion.

World's Billionaires (March 2009): $2.2 billion

Fountain Valley-based Kingston Technology co-founders David Sun and John Tu came in at No. 374, with an estimated $2.5 billion.

Newport Beach-based Pimco's Bill Gross came in at No. 488, with a $2 billion fortune.

Irvine-based Broadcom co-founder Henry Samueli ranked No. 582, with a net worth of $1.7 billion.

World's Billionaires (March 2009): $1.3 billion

Irvine-based Broadcom co-founder Henry Nicholas was split from Samueli, coming in at No. 655. Nicholas is valued at $1.5 billion.

George Argyros and Igor Olenicoff also ranked at No. 655, with $1.5 billion.

No. 1 in the ranking? Carlos Slim Helu, the man behind American Movil, a telecommunications firm in Mexico. His net worth totaled $53.5 billion.
