This morning's auction took less than an hour, and the lowest initial
bid came from Tel Phil Enterprises in Newport Beach, which put down a
$1,000 "protest bid" on behalf of the people of Orange County,
according to Jeffrey Teller, president of the company.
Other
initial bids include $2 million from Forde & Mollrich; $17 million
from Advanced Real Estate Services; $20 million from Anaheim Sports
Holdings; and $42.5 million from Craig Realty Group.
Advanced Real Estate Services' final offer was $56 million.
State officials will now consider the high bid and will decide whether to accept it. The process could last through the spring.
But,
there's still hope for opponents of the sale – AB 1590, a measure that
could stop the legislative process that allowed the sale to proceed,
was this week approved by the Assembly Committee on Business and
Professions. It is set to go to the Assembly Committee on
Appropriations on Jan. 21. << PREVIOUS PAGE
If the Governor accepts 56.5 mil. on a property that is worth upwards of 200 mil. then he is only revealing that he is a very desperate man. Do the right thing, take it off the market Arnold and focus on bringing business back to California instead. Don't sell out, and certainly, don't sell us out!

Next thing you know the governor will try and sell the State Parks. Huntington State Beach up for sale?
Proposals or laws to allow the governor to sell State Property must be stopped or changed.

Yes, dear friends in the "blogosphere," I'm really afraid that the OC Fairgrounds and the swap meet will soon be a thing of the past!! The only thing that Scrooge and Marley, whoops, I meant Craig and Manley, care about is the almighty dollar. And I really feel sorry for Costa Mesa! Does anybody out there remember a little project called Triangle Square?? Ah, brings back memories of Niketown and the Virgin Megastore, doesn’t it? To quote Marley’s Ghost: “Business! Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were all my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!” – Sincerely, “GoodbyeOCFair”

If the Fairgrounds garner $185.2 million dollars a year for the state, who in their right mind would sell it for $65 million?
