Over the period, professional and business services reported the largest uptick, adding 5,400 jobs. About 43 percent of that jump occurred in administrative and support services. The government sector also saw an increase of 5,300 positions between September and October. And educational and health services reported a gain of 1,300 jobs, mainly due to the former, which accounted for 85 percent of the increase. Ambulatory health care services made up the other 15 percent. But large declines occurred in the construction sector, which lost 1,400 positions. Leisure and hospitality eliminated 1,200 jobs, while manufacturing dropped by 1,000.
