    Earth Day Community Event
Community Action Partnership of Orange County, in collaboration with the Obama O.C. Organization and Senator Lou Correa, are holding this event in Anaheim to lower utility costs by educating local families. The community service organization, which has created programs such as Orange County Head Start and Orange County Hunger Coalition, received funds from President Obama's stimulus package that allows them to offer low-income families in Orange County free weatherization and utility services. Most of the event will be spent canvasing certain neighborhoods and identifying the people who will benefit from the program, but the event is open to families interested in the services. Members of the community who would like to help educate families and sign them up for the services must call 714.558.4400.

The company's environmental efforts last year provided the company with a $100,000 annual cost savings. And to meet its goal of decreasing energy usage by 10 percent in 2009, the company has implemented an Energy Task Force subcommittee, which will provide leadership, innovation and direction in the implementation of energy efficiency.

To celebrate the success of its environmental initiatives, Sole Technology is holding the Green Sole Awards in its Sole Technology Institute. It's the world's first and only biomechanics lab dedicated to studying the impacts of skateboarding. Among the other festivities: Sole Technology will open its Eco-learning Center to aid employees in living more eco-conscious lives; eco-artwork from Robert Park Harrison will be on display; information sessions will be held about greening your office; and Roian Atwood, manager of environmental affairs at Sole, will give a presentation. Though the event is geared toward the internal side of the company, it is open to the public. Those interested should RSVP to Natalie Miller at natalie.miller@soletechnology.com.
