Orange-based Continuous Coating Corp. received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's National Partnership for Environmental Priorities award for its removal of 70,000 pounds of lead from its metallic electroplating and sheet metal production system. To reduce the amount of lead used in the manufacturing process, Continuous Coating modified its equipment and production processes, and also began using less toxic raw materials. This environmental initiative benefits employees and the greater community, according to Steven John, director of EPA's Southern California field office.
