Continuous Coating Corp. recognized by EPA, continued ...

“Any time you remove 70,000 pounds of lead, you reduce the potential for employee and surrounding community health issues,” says John.

Children under the age of 6 are most vulnerable to the damaging effects of lead-based paint and related hazards from dust and contaminated soil, according to the EPA. Lead poisoning can lead to long-term health issues such as intelligence deficiencies, learning disabilities, hearing impairment, hyperactivity and behavioral problems.

Continuous Coating Corp. is a member of EPA's National Partnership for Environmental Priorities, a voluntary partnership program working to reduce the use of potentially harmful chemicals from products and processes. The goal? To work with different industries and the public to lessen the use or release of 4 million pounds of such hazardous chemicals by 2011.
