Panasonic Avionics partners with Air France – KLM

The Lake Forest-based manufacturer will provide in-flight entertainment and communication systems.

Panasonic Avionics Corp. announced Wednesday that it has entered into an agreement with Air France – KLM, the largest airline consortium in terms of operating revenue in the world, to provide state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment (IFE) and communication systems.

Under the agreement, Panasonic’s eX2 IFE system will be installed in 10 new B777-300ER aircraft for Air France. The first of these is schedule to enter service in March 2010.

Panasonic will provide Air France dynamic in-flight entertainment systems including the advanced features passengers expect from IFE today. The eX2 will provide Air France with an application and communication-hosting platform that allows the company to customize its IFE solutions to fit its unique needs. Air France is intends to differentiate its brand in order to dramatically enhance passenger experience.

According to Patrick Roux, SVP of Marketing, Air France – KLM, Panasonic eX2 was chosen for its reliability, space saving and weight reduction features, which help improve aircraft fuel efficiency.
