Tustin’s Peregrine Pharmaceuticals sees promising results

Trials for drugs targeting prostate, breast and lung cancers are showing excellent results.

Tustin-based Peregrine Pharmaceuticals recently released updated test results for its Phase 2 trial of bavituximab in combination with chemotherapy for the treatment of small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) patients.

Bavituximab is also undergoing clinical trials for the treatment of breast cancer. Additionally, researchers reported additional evidence that Peregrine’s PS-targeting antibodies exert strong anti-tumor potential.

The already encouraging data released in February indicated that in the Phase 2 study, there were seven objective tumor responses among 17 evaluable patients. That number has now risen to 11 responses among 17 after additional treatment cycles.

The trial is now enrolling additional NSCLC patients as part of an expanded second study.
