Artistic Voyage benefits St. Jude Medical Center

By Carol StarcevicPublished: April 01, 2010

The visual and lyrical sensations of art and music will converge in an evening of creative expression, including a concert, hosted by Yorba Linda-based Artistic Voyage on April 10 at Messiah Lutheran Church, also in Yorba Linda. The event will benefit St. Jude Medical Center’s Care for the Poor Program, which provides North County residents with access to health care.

Artistic Voyage, formed just this year, seeks to use the transformative power of music and art to inspire people to make a difference. A previous concert benefited Giving Children Hope, which assists Haiti’s earthquake victims.

The 7 p.m. concert features the Biava Quartet, one of America’s most accomplished young string quartets. The group will perform works by Brahms, Chopin and Greig. The quartet has appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and the Baroque Art Hall in Seoul.

The concert will be preceded by a 6 p.m. art gallery exhibition spotlighting the works of artists Tony Pro and Joseph Todorovitch, and the photography of jazz musician Stig Jonas Pettersson.

“The local community has warmly embraced the mission of Artistic Voyage to celebrate the beauty of the arts – and enrich the lives of others through music,” says Yana Reznik, founder of Artistic Voyage.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. artisticvoyage.org

MORE FUNDRAISERS FROM THE REGION

The annual Cox Community Golf Tournament raised $75,000 for injured marines last month, bringing the event’s four-year total to $250,000. R. Lee Ermy (top left), a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and star of “Full Metal Jacket,” joined Master Sgt. Davey Lind, an Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund recipient, at the first tee.

Wahoo’s founder Wing Lam (left) and NFL draft-eligible player Colt McCoy were among the 730 guests who attended the two-day Athletes First Classic Gala, benefiting Orangewood Children’s Foundation. More than $400,000 was raised for the foundation’s
scholarship program for former foster teens in Orange County.
