Project Playhouse is back at Fashion Island
HomeAid Orange County's 17th annual five week-long event opens Saturday.

HomeAid Orange County's fundraiser kicks off Saturday at Fashion Island in Newport Beach with an open house and runs until Oct. 11. The open house showcases Anaheim Ducks Hockey Hideaway, Beachside Cabana, Wahoo's Extreme Sports Shack and The Caribbean Surf Shack, as well as four other playhouses.
This year's event will feature the first-time playhouse builder W Custom Homes' The Wee Green Playhouse, an eco-friendly version of the typical playhouse; Shea Homes' TradePartners Mystic Lodge; UC Irvine's Americana Del Mar; and Lyon's Little Greek House by William Lyon Homes.
Project Playhouse, presented by Bank of America, runs for five weeks and ends with a live public auction at Fashion Island. In its 17 years, the event has raised more than $5 million to help build houses for homeless families and individuals. For a $20 donation, guests can enter the homes during the open house, and on the following weekends, guests can donate $5 to view the homes. For more information, check out projectplayhouse.org.
