Rainbow Sandals says ‘here comes the sun’
The San Clemente-based company’s solar-power system could offset 90 percent of electricity usage.

Rainbow Sandals is celebrating the completion of a solar-panel installation that’s expected to eventually offset 90 percent of its annual electricity usage at its corporate headquarters in San Clemente.
It's part of a pledge Rainbow Sandals President Jay “Sparky” Longely made to become more environmentally conscious.
“We are thrilled with how the project worked out and are proud to be able to invest in something that is great for our business and the environment,” said Longely.
Irvine-based Solar Monkey handled the rooftop installation of 1,170 panels.
“Rainbow provides a great example for businesses that want to make a change in how they impact the environment,” said Solar Monkey CEO Matthew McCullough. “Not only was this smart for reducing their carbon footprint, it was also smart for their pocket book.”
