![]() The virtual map is expected to help those who frequent the city's paths, such as hikers, bicyclists and equestrians, to better navigate through the city's extensive system. By visiting sanjuancapistrano.org, visitors can travel the different trails, and identify the highest and lowest points, length and locations. The San Juan Capistrano Equestrian Coalition, which was formed in 2003 to preserve the city's equestrian lifestyle and the city's recreational trail system, funded the work to videotape, digitize and map the trails. And Digital Map Products, a technology company and city consultant, provided the spatial platform for the project through CommunityView, a Web-based application that allows cities to publish information such as zoning, land use and street sweeping schedules to the Internet for access by their residents. “CommunityView is a win-win for everyone," says the city's environmental manager, Ziad Mazboudi. "We are proud of our city trails, and now we can showcase them."
