Santa Ana's Access Beverage inks deal to buy bottled water brand

The company wants a 40 percent stake in Lauquen Natural Artesian Water.

Santa Ana-based Access Beverage recently signed a letter of intent with New Patagonia SA to acquire a 40 percent interest in Lauquen Natural Artesian Water. Lauquen is the No. 1 premium bottled water in many markets around the world and was recently named one of the world's most luxurious and expensive bottled waters by Forbes Traveler magazine.

Under the terms of the agreement, Access Beverage will hold the exclusive marketing and distribution rights, including import and export rights, joint ownership of all trademarks, future products and share in profits of the operation of the brand in the U.S., Canada and China.

Access Beverage's distribution of Lauquen will focus on institutional sales, including resorts and spas, wine bars, high-end clubs, hotels, restaurants, country clubs and luxury retailers.

“Lauquen has earned its place as a high-end lifestyle brand and is a perfect complement to Access Beverage's line of fine wines and spirits," says Access Beverage's CEO James Moeller. "We believe the best wine makers and sommeliers, hoteliers and other luxury service providers in North America and China will be pleased to offer Lauquen to their clientele."

Lauquen is bottled at the source at the base of the Andes Mountains in Patagonia, Argentina. The company is headquartered in Buenos Aires.

The contract with New Patagonia SA is a part of Access Beverage's plans to expand globally, specifically into the Chinese market, as well as increase revenue and profitability. This comes on the heels of the company's recent acquisition of Diamond Wodka BVBA. Access Beverage manufactures, markets and sells wine and spirit brands in the U.S. Its brands include Le Snoot, Mardi Gras and Bees Knees wines and Simply RAW Vodka.
