Santa Ana-based SRS Labs has integrated several of its audio solution suites into computers from HP, Samsung and other manufacturers. The company embarked last year on a plan to increase its partnerships with such computer companies, and based on its initiative and market research, SRS expects its audio products to be included in up to 25 million laptop computers by year's end. An estimated 148 million laptops and netbooks were sold in 2008, according to a preliminary DisplaySearch Worldwide Laptop/Netbook PC 2008 Forecast. And SRS' new partners accounted for 63 million of the total units. "We're excited to have partnered with many of the industry's top PC manufacturers, as this represents a major opportunity for SRS Labs to expand our technological leadership in the PC marketplace and further integrate our world-class audio solutions in this popular and growing market segment," says Allen Gharapetian, vice president of Marketing for SRS Labs. More than 70 percent of online adults use their computers for entertainment, such as watching high-definition TV or movie content and listening to music, according to a report from the Consumer Electronics Association. But with an increasing demand for smaller computers, computer manufacturers often face limitations in sound and design when building devices with smaller speakers. But SRS' audio software – such as Premium Surround and TruSurround HD – provides crisp, clear playback of CDs, DVDs, games and online content regardless of the size or placement of speakers. The products offer complete multimedia experiences with deep, rich bass and clear dialog.
