![]() Approximately 1,100 water stakeholders are expected to attend this critical conference, which will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The curriculum will cover the myriad challenges facing the Santa Ana Watershed, a region that spans four counties and 2,800 square miles. One in six Californians currently lives in the watershed, and population is expected to reach 10 million by 2050. The watershed is also home to the110-mile Santa Ana River Trail from the San Bernardino Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. Our region continues in dire drought conditions with supplies from the Colorado River and Sacramento Delta severely restrained. “Each dollar will need to solve several problems. It will take a holistic approach to solving our region’s water challenges,” says Celeste Cantu, general manager of the Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority and a conference speaker. Cantu continues, “We must encourage people to embrace a new water ethic. We must all know where water comes from, how to use it wisely and where it goes after we use it. Californians must understand that there is enough water for efficient use but not a drop to waste,” Related headlines O.C.
