Seal Beach-based Clean Energy contracts with The Parking Spot

Company will support transition of airport shuttle fleet to natural gas fuel.

Seal Beach's Clean Energy Fuels Corp. signed an agreement with The Parking Spot, a U.S. near-airport parking service provider, to transition the company's fleet at its Austin Bergstrom, Dallas Love Field and LAX facilities to compressed natural gas fuel.

Under the contract, Clean Energy will also design, build and maintain three compressed natural gas fueling stations on The Parking Spot's properties near facilities in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston. The stations have the potential to convert the agency's entire parking shuttle fleet – at 18 locations serving 12 U.S. airports in 10 cities – to the clean energy-burning fuel.

The Parking Spot's yellow-and-black spotted shuttles run to and from airport terminals every five to seven minutes.

“At every airport we serve, we are committed to helping protect the environment by reducing emission impacts from the operation of our parking shuttle vans," says Kevin Shrier, The Parking Spot's senior vice president of acquisitions and operations.
