Irvine-based SmartReply, North America’s leading mobile marketer for top retail brands, announced Monday that it had acquired mSnap, the largest short-message-system (SMS) mobile advertising network in the United States.

The combined resources of both companies results in the most powerful SMS advertising platform for U.S. retailers and marketers. This also provides an impetus for advertisers in the mobile industry in general.

Mobile ad revenues are projected to reach $330 million this year and as much as $720 million in 2010. This acquisition signals the tipping point for mobile advertising, bringing it to the forefront of many budgets as an increasingly effective (and cost-effective) medium for reaching and engaging consumers.
