"A recent poll we took of local residents revealed that of those who do plan to travel over the November and December holidays, more than one-third are planning to spend less on their trips," he says. About 1.9 million people – or 85 percent – are expected to travel via automobile over the holiday, according to the report. The number is up 9 percent from last year, though it's down 26 percent from 2007. Some 166,000 individuals will get to their destination via plane, which is a 1 percent decline from 2008 and a 60 percent decrease from 2007.
