![]() After a quick tour, I was shown the Relaxation Room. I poured myself a glass of lemon water and sampled the dried fruit, and before I could settle down with a magazine, my technician, Andrea, greeted me warmly. Her treatment room was appointed with candlelight and aromatic oils. A tray of pure botanicals was set on the heated massage table. “This is our brown-sugar scrub, and it’s available as part of a couple’s package,” she said. “At the end, your skin will be exfoliated, moisturized and silky-smooth – which is ideal for romance, of course.” Andrea showed me the ingredients as she described each step of the treatment; the blend of fragrances reminded me of Christmas cookies. First, there would be a dry exfoliation with a loofah, and then she’d apply the brown-sugar scrub first on my front and then my back. Once done, I’d jump into a shower located in the treatment room while Andrea remade the table. I’d start face up, and she would apply a deep moisturizer on my front and back. The ingredients are all natural, and she assured me they would leave my skin soft and fragrant. Needing no further prompting, I stretched out on the table, and she worked her magic. It was very relaxing – especially the deep moisturizing at the end of the treatment, since it came with a light massage. Some of the exfoliation stung a bit, since it involved sloughing off old skin, but was not at all uncomfortable. Andrea was extremely amenable, and we had a nice time just chatting. Once I had showered and she did the moisturizing treatment, I felt great. The spa has a variety of well-appointed facilities, which I would have enjoyed using earlier if I hadn’t been running late. As I left, I knew that I wouldn’t be washing off the delicious fragrance any time soon. What: Pure Blu Spa Where: 900 Newport Center Dr., Newport Beach Phone: 949.720.7900 Web: purebluspa.com |
