First-ever Startup Weekend Orange County to be held next month
Tech-savvy entrepreneurs will design and start a business over the course of one weekend

Aspiring entrepreneurs will gather in the city of Orange for the first-ever Startup Weekend Orange County, to be held Nov. 18-20 in Beckman Hall at Chapman University. Startup Weekend attracts designers, entrepreneurs, marketing associates and website developers who work together to design and pitch their tech-related businesses. The attendees, who have not met each other before the event, learn how to build a business from the ground up in just 54 hours, while working together as a team.
The event’s ultimate goal, to launch new tech businesses in O.C. and promote localized grassroots entrepreneurship, is organized by Orange County residents who want to build and support a network of local entrepreneurs.
Startup Weekend has held events in more than 130 cities worldwide, but this is the first time that the event will be hosted in Orange County. In 2010, some 850 businesses opened as a result of the event, with 10 percent receiving funding after one year – a high success rate compared to other startup businesses.
