Summers/Murphy & Partners, Inc. names new vice president
Orange County landscape and architectural design firm appoints Director of Design Rick Hagemeyer as vice president of the company

Dana Point-based Summer/Murphy & Partners, Inc. has promoted Rick Hagemeyer from his position as director of design to vice president and director of design after 26 years of his involvement with the company. Hagemeyer first joined the company as a project manager.
During Hagemeyer’s time at the company, the firm has won more than 60 local, national, and international awards for its designs. At the annual awards ceremony of The National Awards, the nation’s largest competition for sales and marketing professionals and communities presented by the National Sales and Marketing Council branch of the National Association of Home Builders, two of the firm’s projects received Silver Awards and were finalists for the category of Best Landscape Design: Bellasario at Stonebridge Estates in San Diego in association with Standard Pacific Homes, and The Fields at Lambert Ranch in Irvine in association with The New Home Company. The Fields was the Gold Award winner this year. Hagemeyer played a major role in the design and development of both of these properties.
“Early on I recognized the incredible talent of President Pat Murphy and saw the opportunity to collaborate with him and move Summers/Murphy & Partners to the next level. I am very grateful to Pat for providing me a forum to utilize my talent and for giving me the freedom to express my vision and creativity; when we work together and merge our individual talents and dispositions, it seems to fit like a glove. I think that when you're running a business such as ours, it's important to have a balance between creativity and marketability, and to have a mutual respect for your peers and colleagues,” Hagemeyer said.
Aside from the company’s work in California, Summer/Murphy & Partners, Inc.’s portfolio extends to other Western U.S. states and has helped develop communities in the Middle East, China, and Russia. The company is also proud of its diverse client list, with their projects that range from work with custom residences and industrial parks, to national and international resorts.
“Our goal is to always strive to exceed expectations and to give the client exactly what they want, and more,” Hagermeyer said. “If we can do that, at the end of the day, we're feeling pretty good.”
