Taco Bell Feeds the Beat

Irvine-based Taco Bell is helping bands achieve their dreams – with free Fourthmeals.

By Kristen SchottPublished: September 05, 2008 01:36 PM

For the third year in a row, Taco Bell is searching for 100 indie rock bands (last year the company picked 50) to provide them with one month's supply of Fourthmeals, the late-night meal between dinner and breakfast, while they are on tour. The reward is worth $500 in $5 Taco Bell Bucks for each band.

But Taco Bell is changing the program up a bit by adding marketing resources for the bands and a new Feed the Beat Web site, feedthebeat.com. The site will have music from some of the bands and will help to build a fan base for the up-and-comers. But the main draw is the Best of the Beat competition on the site, where three bands can win an expanded package.

Taco Bell is giving those three bands the opportunity to work with the restaurant chain and an indie rock producer who will record their single, which will be promoted through the site, Internet and in-store advertisements during spring 2009.

To apply, bands that are touring this fall must complete an online submission form by Sept. 18 at feedthebeat.com. The bands will be announced during the Web site's launch on Oct. 9.
