Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD) has introduced three new additions to its family of Excite tablets. Toshiba hopes that the new tablets ––sized at 13.3 inches, 10.1 inches and 7.7 inches –– will offer something for every consumer looking for a convenient hand-held computer they can slip into their pocket, purse or briefcase.
The three new tablets –– the Excite 13, Excite 10 and Excite 7.7 –– feature sturdy aluminum shells and Corning Gorilla Glass displays for style and durability. All three come equipped with Android 4.0 for easy multitasking, resizable widgets and all Google Play applications.
“One size does not fit all, so we are carefully considering how and where people are using tablets and designing form factors to best suit various needs,” said Toshiba DPD Vice President Carl Pinto.
The Excite 13 is designed to offer a higher resolution display ideal for watching movies, playing games and sharing photos or videos. It will be available beginning June 2012 for $649.
Measuring 10.1-inches diagonally and .35 inches thick, the Excite 10 is portable for on-the-go web browsing, reading, games and apps. It will sell for $449 starting in May.
Lastly, the Excite 7.7 is 0.3 inches thick and weighs 13.4 ounces, allowing it to fit easily into a bag or jacket. Starting at $499 in June 2012, the 7.7 version is perfect for the mobile gamer and movie lover.
“With amazingly thin and light designs, our new Excite family of tablets continues to incorporate what consumers have come to love about Toshiba tablets: essential ports for a more complete tablet computing experience plus durability that ensures they can go the distance,” said Pinto.
