Treasure Box, Mount of Olives Church team up to support South County Outreach

Partnership will provide food to low-income families; deadline for ordering July's menu is tomorrow.

With the economic cycle in a downturn, feeding a family for $30 a week seems unrealistic.   The Treasure Box – a meal program developed by Good Source Solutions – is making this fantasy a reality. The food distributor is partnering with Mount of Olives Church  in Mission Viejo to support Lake Forest-based South County Outreach in an effort to provide this necessity for underserved local families.

Community members are encouraged to purchase Treasure Box meals that will be donated to South County Outreach – a nonprofit organization providing housing assistance and food service to low-income families, seniors and individuals in South Orange County. Treasure Box meals can be purchased by going to South County Outreach’s Web site. The deadline to order the July menu is tomorrow.

The Treasure Box offers a practical food option with quality, nutritious food available for families of all incomes. Each pre-assembled box is filled with $75 to $100 worth of food, offered for only $30 per week. Saving 65 percent in cost compared to purchasing the items at a local grocery store, the program provides a viable food option for all – especially when everyone is feeling the effects of this unpredictable economy.

South County Outreach is currently responding to triple the normal numbers of families in need of help. The food drive – hosted in response to this current economic crisis – is receiving an astounding amount of support. A private donor has even challenged the congregation, offering to match every donation made on behalf of South County Outreach.
