The Treasure Box , Mount of Olives Church food drive, continued...
Through the generosity of the congregation and community, South County Outreach fed more than 1,044 families in May, including 126 new clients, according to Ken Carpenter, client services director of South County Outreach.
“The Treasure Box is an outstanding program that allows our church members to help others and sometimes even help themselves. To be able to buy a box of quality food at such a reduced rate means that a great many people can help those who have fallen on bad times in our current economy,” says Mount of Olives Senior Pastor John Steward.
With more than 500 food manufacturers and more than 22 locations in Orange County, the Treasure Box is only growing. Each box contains enough food to feed a family of four for a week, or an individual for nearly a month. The frozen box includes food items varying from chicken teriyaki rice bowls to corn muffins, and from pasta to cookie dough.
