UC Irvine Extension has introduced a new Advanced Project Management Certificate Program for experienced project managers and senior level managers looking to improve their skills and expertise and move to the next level beyond PMP (project management professional) accreditation.
The new certificate program will includes two courses during the spring quarter, Project Portfolio Management and Agile Project Management.
Participants will be able to rival potential competitors and undertake change in a multi-faceted environment. The advantages of the certificate program include fostering project managers and other business professionals to successfully utilize strategy, apply theoretical concepts, and build practical knowledge for overseeing a conglomerate of critical programs and projects.
“Due to the increasingly demanding nature of projects in today’s ever-changing marketplace, it is critical that professionals leverage their project management capabilities to gain competitive advantage,” said Melanie Mitchell, acting director of management, marketing and business programs at UC Irvine Extension. “For those with at least three years of project management practical experience, the new Advanced Project Management Certificate program will gain industry-specific methods to improve success with complex projects.”
Instructors Chris Fujinami, a manager with the Project Management Office of Henkel Corporation, and Rashed Iqbal, a Program Manager at Teledyne Controls, will provide the needed tools to ensure project work yields the desired business results.
Students working towards the certificate will also be required to take a number of other project management courses, including Six Sigma Lean Toolkit (spring); Project Portfolio Management (spring); Program Management (summer); and Global Aspects of Team Leadership (summer), among others.
UC Irvine Extension will host a free informational webinar titled, “Agile Project Management” on Thursday, March 15, which will lay out information on the emphasis of Agile, the traditional developmental lifecycles versus the Agile lifecycle as well as the trends and growth of Agile Project Management.
