![]() UC Irvine Medical Center U.S. News has recognized UCI Medical Center every year since 2001 for its individual medical programs and overall health-care quality. “UCI is committed to providing Orange County with the highest quality health care,” said Terry A. Belmont, CEO of UC Irvine Medical Center. “The recognition reflects our excellence in research, the quality of our treatments and patient care, and the dedication of our faculty, nurses and staff.” U.S. News evaluated 4,852 hospitals and ranked 152 medical centers in 16 specialties, based on their ability to treat the most challenging cases. Extra review points were given to hospitals designated as a Level 1 trauma center, as well as those with “nursing magnet” status – both apply to UC Irvine. Dr. Ralph V. Clayman, dean of the medical school and professor of urology, said that UCI’s mission – Discover. Teach. Heal. – attracts physicians who are leaders in their fields. "The 2010 rankings are an indication of faculty excellence at UCI's School of Medicine and at our medical center," Clayman said. "This demonstrates the faculty's ability to deal with the most difficult cases." |
