UC Irvine Extension has launched a new online program aimed at helping business professionals plan and execute innovative, cost-effective Web-based marketing strategies. The Internet Marketing Certificate Program is geared toward industry professionals who seek to improve their career skills or those who want to boost their online presence, and the offering gives individuals an edge on developing successful Web-based platforms.
The curriculum will teach students to utilize social media, analyze Internet trends and employ search engine marketing tactics to leverage Internet platforms and acquire, convert and retain online customers.
Individuals in the program will learn about viral media marketing, including display advertising, e-mail, mobile and online video. Courses will demonstrate how delivering a consistent message via effective storytelling can engage audiences across media channels.
The program is made up of six required courses and electives with a minimum of five units and 160 hours of instruction. Some of the offerings include Site Optimization and Personalization, Online Analytics and Measurement, Planning and Developing Your Search Engine Marketing Strategy, and Transmedia Marketing Through Storytelling.
Registration is currently under way, and instruction will begin during the spring quarter.
“Taught by leading industry experts, this online program offers (flexibility) to accommodate the busy business professional,” said Melanie Mitchell, assistant director of business, management and legal programs at UCI Extension. “The curriculum will allow business professionals on the fast-track to capitalize on Internet marketing opportunities to learn the methods for search engine and website optimization, predicting online visitor and buyer behavior, and determining return on investment of Internet marketing programs.”
