Hundreds of Southern California business leaders, corporate sustainability executives, clean-tech investors and researchers will meet next month at the Irvine Marriott for a Profit Plus Planet? Conference sponsored by UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business.

The daylong event will focus on global sustainability issues as they apply to business and various industries. The business and academic communities will discuss the future of green industry and the application of sustainable practices as a driver for innovation and competitive advantage.

A variety of educational panels will present information on how business owners can green their companies, the benefits of doing so and effective marketing methods of communicating these efforts to customers. A number of speakers will also offer key insight on the greening practices and experiences within companies such as Sole Technology and etnies, Planet Green, UPS, Yahoo! and Wal-Mart.

Registration for the event is currently open, with a discount available to anyone who registers before Feb. 25. Also, a limited number of early registrants will be sent a separate invitation for a private tour of the Sole Technology site in Lake Forest on March 25, led by Roain Atwood, manager of Environmental Affairs at Sole Technology.
