UC Irvine is finalizing the plans for its upcoming symposium "From Molecular Biology to Human Therapies: Strategies, Challenges and Opportunities." The two-day conference begins April 20 and showcases advances in treatments for different diseases and conditions.

Hosted by the School of Biological Sciences, in conjunction with the schools of medicine and physical sciences, the event will join academia and industry members as they learn from each other and build partnerships. Organizers hope the collaborations will lead to better therapies for health disorders.

The symposium will feature a keynote address each morning: FDA Office of Biotechnology Products Director Steve Kozlowski will speak on biopharmaceutical safety on Monday, and United States Pharmacopeia CEO Dr. Roger Williams will speak on compendial challenges Tuesday.
