UC Irvine is adding two new classes to its OpenCourseWare Web site: "White Collar Crime" and "Science from Superheroes to Global Warming."

OpenCourseWare offers free online access to courses at the school to people across the world, and it aims to increase educational opportunities for the public.

“OpenCourseWare was inspired by the notion that knowledge and education should be openly and freely shared, and that by doing so human knowledge, creativity and social welfare will be advanced,” says Dean of Continuing Education Gary W. Matkin, Ph.D. “We are proud of every step we are able to take to further this important movement.”

“White Collar Crime,” a master’s course that mirrors the university's first fully online master's program, "Advanced Studies in Criminology, Law and Society," will discuss the scope of the crime, and its causes and effects on society.

“Science from Superheroes to Global Warming,” is an undergraduate course also mirroring another taught at the university, aimed at exploring science and the scientific method through different case studies and experiments.
