Orange County United Way has received a donation of $10,000 from Well Fargo to continue the organization’s efforts in providing financial support for Orange County residents through its new financial services affiliate, SparkPoint OC.
As a member of the United Way Global Corporate Leadership program, Wells Fargo is celebrating 160 years of helping its community by donating more than $2.5 million in grants to more than 60 nonprofit organizations across the nation.
“Wells Fargo is a company that truly cares about our communities, and is especially supportive of local nonprofits who deliver vital services to those most in need, like the wide range of resources provided by Orange County United Way,” said Ben Alvarado, the Orange County Coastal Community Bank president.
Well Fargo was named United Way’s top national campaign for donating more than $56 million through the company’s 2011 “Community Support and United Way Campaign.”
SparkPoint OC is the beneficiary of the recent donation. The new agency is a financial stability service center with the goal of assisting low-income families with access to resources to help gain financial stability.
“Without the support of companies like Wells Fargo, we would not be able to continue to help Orange County families get the information and tools they need to make wise, sustainable financial decisions,” said Carla Vargas, OC United Way’s senior vice president for community impact.
Orange County United Way is a nonprofit organization aimed at improving the lives of community members by focusing on education, income and health. The organization invests in Orange County families and helps them meet basic needs such as food, shelter, and medical care and provide resources for a self-sufficient future.
