Irvine-based VIZIO, the No. 1 LCD HDTV company in the United States, announced Tuesday that U.S. consumers purchased more than 280,000 VIZIO HDTVs during the week of Black Friday 2009. This is a 40 percent increase over VIZIO's Black Friday sales in 2008.

According to the company, the increase was driven in part by VIZIO's high performance HDTV offerings with features such as TruLED backlights with Smart Dimming, fast 120/240Hz refresh rates and a full product range from 19" to 55" to fit across all market demands.

"Thanks to the strength and efficiency of our valued retail partners such as Costco Wholesale, Sam's Club, Walmart, Target, BJ's Wholesale, Sears, DELL, Nebraska Furniture Mart, BrandsMart and Tiger Direct, VIZIO has achieved another record-breaking year of Black Friday sales of HDTVs, Blu-ray players, high definition sound bars and high performance HDMI cables," says Laynie Newsome co-founder and vice president of Sales and Marketing Communications for VIZIO.
