Vanguard University holds environmental conference

The Costa Mesa-based university's Environmental Sustainability Conference will feature Shaheen Sadeghi, Pierre André Senizergues as keynotes.

Vanguard University in Costa Mesa is presenting its Environmental Sustainability Conference on Jan. 30 to inform local business people about effective green practices for business. Presented by the university's Students in Free Enterprise group, the event will feature Shaheen Sadeghi, creator of the LAB and the CAMP in Costa Mesa and an OC METRO Hot 25 honoree, and Pierre André Senizergues, the founder and owner of Sole Technology who was most recently featured in OC METRO's annual Green Issue, as the keynote speakers.

Other speakers include Rachel Hulan of Path Design; Christy Kull of Northrop Grumman; Spencer Brown of Rent a Green Box; Martin Diedrich of Kean Coffee; Jim Woodrow of Vanguard University; and Helene Kennan of Bon Appétit.

The conference will discuss words often associated with eco-friendly practices such as zero-energy design, photovoltaics, hybrid technology and carbon offsets, and aims to turn these words into practical, useful and effective business practices. It will feature two breakout sessions will local business people who will share their stories, an exhibition with environmentally innovative products and a lunch catered by Bon Appétit.

The conference runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 30.

Students in Free Enterprise is an international nonprofit organization working with business and higher education to provide economic opportunities through community outreach programs.
