OCTANe to present venture capital conference
VC in the OC will highlight local companies and investment opportunities.

Aliso Viejo-based OCTANe Foundation will present the best of Orange County innovation as part of its seventh annual VC in the OC 2011 conference, which will take place on Tuesday, May 24, at the Hyatt Regency Irvine. The event will feature exhibits by more than 100 local firms in the research and development industry.
“This is Orange County’s marquee event to get the inside view on cutting-edge technologies, hot start-ups, venture investments and industry trends,” said Matthew Jenusaitis, president and CEO of OCTANe. “With participation from some of the region’s most established companies, active investors and leading-edge start-ups, the conference will spotlight O.C. innovation at its best.”
William Wang, CEO of Irvine-based Vizio, will deliver the morning keynote address. The afternoon’s keynote will come from Mark Stevens of Sequoia Capital. Throughout his career, Stevens has left his mark on some of the high-tech industry’s most successful investments, such as Google, Yahoo, NVIDIA and YouTube.
For the third year in a row, OCTANe will include its Innovation Report, an overview of cutting-edge developments and entrepreneurship in the county. In addition, a panel of venture capitalists will discuss a variety of topics related to the local market.
Entrepreneurs will be able to meet with potential investors in a few rounds of VC Speed Dating or sit back and watch 14 preselected companies present their plans in front of an audience of venture capitalists.
