Village Green Global introduces emissions-monitoring software to the U.S.

Companies can audit, monitor greenhouse gases and identify ways to reduce them.

Village Green Global Inc. has launched a new software program aimed at helping business owners find ways to reduce their company’s carbon footprint – and improve their bottom line at the same time.

Through its Enterprise Carbon Accounting service, Village Green conducts an on-site audit to determine how much energy and water a company consumes, and how much waste and transport emissions it creates. Then, its Software Management Audit Reporting Technology Version 3.2 – also known as SMARTweb – records the date and pulls from a listing of 30,000 devices to determine a set of recommendations, unique to each company.

The innovation comes on the heels of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s implementation of the first greenhouse gas reporting system, which requires large emitters to record and monitor their heat-trapping emissions to ensure they comply with federal regulations.

In addition to the carbon accounting software, Village Green Global offers a Get Green Trainer program featuring a course curriculum that’s designed to expand a person’s managerial, theoretical and practical understanding of environmental auditing.

“Our vision is to make it simple for organizations to become more energy-efficient, reduce costs and create green jobs,” said Doug Smith, founder and CEO of Village Green. “SMARTweb provides the tools to enlighten enterprises about how they can save money by reducing their carbon usage. Get Green training provides the educated workforce [the ability] to make this vision a reality.”

Village Green Global launched in Australia in 2002 and operates its California headquarters in Irvine. Since its creation, SMARTweb has been used in more than 6,000 environmental audits. Clients include Cisco, Daimler Chrysler, Westfield and the World Wildlife Fund.
