Kept in suspension

By Tamirra StewartPublished: March 01, 2010

They looked so innocent, those two straps. They dangled idly from the workout bar; if there had been a warm breeze, they would’ve moved slowly, easily back and forth.

TRX is a suspension training system designed to use “all core, all the time.” Nylon straps are hung from overhead, and you use your body for leverage. The difficulty of the various moves is dictated by the angle that your body is positioned.

Randy Hetrick, a former Navy SEAL who served on a submarine, developed the system. He and his buddies needed a way to stay fit while in enclosed spaces such as submarines and safe houses.
