Masters water polo

The scent of chlorine opens your nasal passages, while the steam rising off of the pool and onto the deck gently blankets your feet and ankles. The pool is calm – not a ripple in the water. This is what you feel and see about one second before jumping in to play an invigorating game of water polo.
Maybe you played in high school or college. Or maybe you’ve never even tried the sport but think it sounds like a fun workout. Whatever your skill level or age, there is a club in Orange County that’s right for you and ready to help you get into shape.
The Huntington Beach-based USA Water Polo Masters program is a great way for men and women ages 20 and older to achieve better physical health. It provides organized team play, with Masters level tournaments. And you can find water polo clubs scattered throughout Orange County.
A water polo player myself, I find the sport mentally and physically energizing and the competition invigorating. It is an experience that will make your heart race – whether you’re swimming as fast as you can down the length of the pool or you’ve just shot the winning goal, ending the game with a championship medal to take home.
