Costa Mesa’s West Coast University welcomes new CEO

Higher education veteran Barry T. Ryan, J.D., Ph.D., will also serve as president of the 100-year-old school.

Costa Mesa-based West Coast University appointed Barry T. Ryan, J.D., Ph.D., as president CEO of the 100-year-old institution. Ryan will be responsible for all operations and strategic deveopment.

Dr. Ryan has extensive experience in higher education as both a faculty member and administrator. For more than a decade, he taught history and law in public and private university settings. A tenured professor in both disciplines, he was the recipient of numerous outstanding teaching awards.

Most recently, Ryan was president of Argosy University, Southern California, and oversaw all four campuses. He has also held previous positions as a provost and vice president at other universities on the East and West coasts.

Additionally, Ryan served as the United States Supreme Court Judicial Fellow under former Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist.

“Dr. Ryan’s impressive and proven track record in higher education, coupled with his passion for accessible and quality education for all, will impact the University community as we continue our pattern of growth throughout Southern California,” says David Pyle, executive chairman of the board of West Coast University.
