Six communities had double-digit unemployment percentage rates,
including: Stanton (13.9), Santa Ana (13.6), Anaheim, (11.1), Laguna
Woods (10.9) and tied are Buena Park and Garden Grove, each at 10.8
percent.
Stanton’s workforce population is 18,000, with 2,600
out of work. Santa Ana and Anaheim, however, are significantly larger,
with labor force totals of 163,800 and 178,100, respectively. The
number of unemployed in Santa Ana is 22,300 and in Anaheim, it is
19,700, so these two cities account for a much more significant
representation of unemployment in human terms.
The numbers indicate that about 1 out of every 6 unemployed people in the county live in Santa Ana.
